Zazu’s House is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. We provide a new world for parrots, offering plenty of free flight opportunities, social interaction with other birds, and an abundance of loving attention. We provide a permanent refuge for these magnificent residents many of which have found their way to us after having lived through unfortunate circumstances. Our large, heated facilities are both a sanctuary and a social club for our flock. Our volunteers spend a great deal of time simply interacting with our flock as well as feeding and cleaning on a daily basis. We are not a breeding facility. We do not sell birds, nor do we them. Our mission is to simply provide a safe and interesting environment for all birds who find their way to Zazu’s House.

At Zazu, people can expect a “fine dining” type of food in a relaxed public atmosphere. “We do a lot of different comfort foods from around the United States and a couple of different ones from around the world. We make everything from scratch that we can, and we use as much local produce as possible.” Zazu has teamed up with Opelika Grows, Alabama Seafood Co., and Oakview Farms Granary for the produce for the restaurant.
